Spring 2009 in Chenonceaux, France. It was not a pre-planed destination that Mayday weekend. After one hour effort to get our car started and two hours drive to Château de Chambord, which sadly informed us its hours on labor's day, the single closing day of whole year, we found out other interesting castles in the region. Another hour but a pleasant drive through forests of Loire valley, we reached this coup de cœur built right across the river Cher which has over 500 years history and survived from the French Revolution. Shoot from its main corridor facing directly to the river.

Spring 2010 in Gozo, Malta. The most sensible thing to do after a long winter which happened to be the last period of my education is to escape from the city. I desperately searched for small islands on the map and planned to empty my bank account before working. Malta was finally chosen e for its relatively near location since I had not many days left. From this most north point of Gozo Island we expect the Sicily of Italy at the other side of the water.

Spring 2008 in Beijing, China. It was a sunny afternoon like most of days in the spring time of Beijing, when I decided to get on my bike exploring the city, which was 20km away from campus, as much as I can before leaving it. The residences of lower class once filling old center area outside the forbidden city, had been mostly either bulldozed or transformed into commercial areas. Though having no more than 300 years of history, they were in fact the oldest buildings in China, whose authority still claims a 5000 years civilization. Little by little, there we would end up finding western cafés, bars with oriental facade, occupied by emerging so-called Chinese style bourgeois in another sunny afternoon like this.

Winter 2008 in Frankfurt, Germany. It had been a month since Vivian settled down in Frankfurt, during which I was lucky to travel between Paris and Frankfurt once two weeks at quite reasonable fares. The winter in Germany is really freezing and gloomy where everything looks gray, especially with an unsecured future back then. The only compensation was the ambiance on the street near Christmas with Weihnachtsmarkt(Christmas market) in town. A glass of Glühwein and a handful of Bratwurst mit Brötchen(fried sausage with bread) surely made a refreshing combination resisting the cold!
